Paula Deen fires back at Anthony Bourdain on day true story
After Anthony Bourdain attacked celebrity chefs Paula Deen, Guy Fieri, Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee in an interview with TV Guide, Paula Deen has fired back.
The host of his own Travel Channel show, "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations," Bourdain criticized the four Food Network chefs for lack of skill and poor judgment.
Calling Deen "the worst, most dangerous person to America," Bourdain criticized the chef as encouraging an obese nation to eat unhealthily. "Plus," he said, "her food sucks."
In the TV Guide interview, Bourdain went on to call Guy Fieri's shows uninteresting—"I just think, 'Jesus, I'm glad that's not me'"—and Rachael Ray a bad cook. He did note that Ray's talk show is doing well, suggesting she doesn't continue cooking. As for Sandra Lee, Bourdain said she "has a powerful force" in person, but "I hate her works on this planet."
Later, on Twitter, Bourdain explained that he doesn't think Deen is actually the worst person in America, and that he was not commenting on his victims' personalities.
"Paula [is] hardly the worst person in America. Just most destructive influence on [the Food Network]. Nice lady, though, yes?" Bourdain tweeted.
After Bourdain's attack, Deen responded, telling the New York Post that "Anthony Bourdain needs to get a life." Deen blew off Bourdain's criticisms of her food, but took offense at what she saw as attacks on their character.
"I wake up every morning happy for where I am in life. It's not all about the cooking, but the fact that I can contribute by using my influence to help peeople all over the country," Deen said, citing her charitable work with food banks.
Deen then went on the offensive, firing back at Bourdain.
"My good friends Rachael, Guy and Sandra are the most generous charitable folks I know. They give so much of their time and money to help the food-deprived, sick children and abandoned animals. I have no idea what Anthony has done to contribute besides being irritable," Deen told the Post.
Then, in an interview with Fox News's Fox and Friends, Deen revealed that she was shocked by Bourdain's sudden attack, revealing that she has never met the chef in person.
"I don't know if it was a publicity thing or if someone just peed in his bowl of cereal that morning and he was mad," Deen said.
In the end, Bourdain seemed to want to put the whole situation to rest without apology.
"Resolved: Next time I'm asked (for the millionth time) who the worst cooks on Food Network are, I'll just shut up. Who cares?," he tweeted.
Responding to tweets, Bourdain also said that the best Food Network chefs are Anne Burrell and Michael Symon, and continued to explain his words.
"[M]y comment was actually, 'worst, most dangerous to America cook on FN,'" he tweeted.
The controversy didn't seem to stop Bourdain, however—he continued to tweet about Deen, including posting a link to Deen's "Lady's Brunch Burger" recipe, and deriding it as unhealthy.
