BBC News - Nelson Mandela musical opens in South Africa on day true story
A musical tribute to one of the world's most loved citizens, the anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela, is showing in the South African city of Johannesburg.
The Mandela Trilogy uses opera, traditional Xhosa music and jazz to tell the story of the former South African president.
It starts from Mr Mandela's rural childhood, it then moves to Johannesburg's townships where he became a political leader. It also focuses on the difficulties in his first marriage and ends with his 27 years in jail.
The assistant director of the show, Roy Hunter, gave the BBC's Focus on Africa programme a guided tour of the production.
