Chelsea May Raise Bid

Chelsea may improve its bid for Porto wing-back Alvaro Pereira after an opening offer of 20 million euros ($29 million) was rejected, the Guardian reported.

The London club is considering selling 31-year-old Florent Malouda to Italian side Juventus for a "knockdown fee," the paper said.

Barton to QPR?

Queens Park Rangers made Newcastle United player Joey Barton a three-year offer worth 9 million pounds ($15 million), the Daily Mirror reported.

The midfielder, who is making 60,000 pounds a week at Newcastle, will be out of contract next June.

An attempt by Arsenal to land Real Madrid's Kaka on a one- season loan has been rejected by the Spanish club, the Daily Mail said.

Real Madrid wants 17.5 million pounds for the Brazilian former World Player of the Year. Paris Saint-Germain and Sao Paulo are also interested in the 29-year-old.
