‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ new photos look at Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin - Pittsburgh Movie on day true story

On Feb. 1, Universal Pictures released its latest movie stills for Rupert Sanders' "Snow White and the Huntsman," the upcoming action-adventure flick starring Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron.

While the two actresses are featured in the photos – as the titled heroine and Evil Queen Ravenna, respectively, the most compelling new shots offer a closer look at Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman and Sam Claflin as Prince William.

Hemsworth's Huntsman is one of the many changes to the familiar story. The character will provide Snow White with the military skills to go to with Evil Queen. From early production information and promotional materials, it appears Hemsworth's hunky character will enjoy a much more prominent role than Claflin's equally handsome prince.

Check out the new "Snow White and the Hunstman" photos. Or watch the "Snow White" trailer and a video sneak peak.

Pictured in the backdrop of Hemworth's photo are some of the dwarfs. Like Claflin' prince, the dwarfs have been pushed to the background of the story. But in an interesting departure from the most famous film version of the fairy tale, Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," Universal has emphasized Sanders' film will offer eight dwarfs.

Don't expect the traditional names for the dwarves, either. Unnamed in the oral tale, the dwarves in "Snow White in the Huntsman" are named Beith, Coll, Gort, Nion, Muir, Duir, Broch, Quert and Gus.

Also worth noting is that the new images of Stewart and Theron add dimensions to their characters. In a departure from earlier photos, Stewart's Snow White looks more delicate than those that have showcased her action skills. Theron's Evil Queen also displays a delicate, if formidable, beauty that illustrates the character's words, "Beauty is my power."

"Snow White and the Huntsman" also starsIan McShane, Nick Frost, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones, Bob Hoskins, Johnny Harris, Gus, Brian Gleeson and Eddie Marsan.

"Snow White at the Huntsman" will be released to movie theatres June 1, 2012.

Upon its release, Pittsburgh movie-goers can see the film at the AMC Loews Waterfront 22, SouthSide Works Cinemaand Waterworks Cinema 10. Look for locations and movie tickets available for online purchase at Fandango.
