Kewanee's Cal Breedlove moved into the 285-pound quarterfinals at the Class 1A state wrestling tournament Thursday, while Boiler teammate Brandon Rohrig dropped his opening-round match.
Breedlove pinned Brandon Vessels of Lawrenceville at the 1:51 mark of their match.
Breedlove (13-4) will meet Jake Walls of Sterling Newman (35-9) in today's quarterfinals.
Rohrig (32-7) was pinned by Jeff Casey (34-8) of West Carroll at the 1:39 mark of their match.
If Casey defeats Casey Brown (34-6) of Coal City in the today's quarterfinals, Rohrig moves into the wrestlebacks.
A loss by Casey eliminates Rohrig.
