Dress collection for local teens in need - Local News - Cleveland, OH on day true story

& It's never too early to get a jump on your spring cleaning, especially if you're looking to donate some items for a good cause. If you have a collection of no longer needed formal dresses, the Akron Area YMCA has a solution that could help provide memorable experiences for local teens. &

The Akron Area YMCA Teen Leaders Club is partnering with the East Market Street Church of God to collect dresses in an effort to help local teen girls have an opportunity to experience homecoming or prom.

The group is seeking donations of formal dresses, accessories, jewelry and shoes in order to help area teens who cannot afford to buy new items.

Donations are currently being accepted through Feb. 29 at all the Akron Area YMCA locations.

"When the Teen Leaders heard that East Market Street Church of God was collecting dresses to help local teen girls have an opportunity to attend a formal dance, they immediately came and told me they wanted to help," said Jennifer Pfeister, Teen Coordinator at the Lake Anna YMCA in a press release "This is exactly what being a Teen Leader is all about."

On Feb. 29, all donations collected from the Akron Area YMCA locations will be brought to the Lake Anna YMCA and then delivered to East Market Street Church of God located on 2084 East Market Street in Akron.

The Teen Leaders Club is a program that brings together teens grades 7–12 to develop leadership skills, establish new friendships and enjoy new experiences.
