A group of Central Florida women got the surprise of their lives from Kelly Ripa.

Thousands of women from around the country wrote in to "Live With Kelly" in hopes of winning the Girls Night Out: New York Edition contest. The winner gets to spend the weekend in New York with her girlfriends and Ripa.

One of those letter writers was 37-year-old Robyn Ungaro, of Chuluota.

Ungaro was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer last May.

"The girls kept my spirits up by making up cheers before I had to go to chemo," she said in her letter.

Ungaro said the cancer spread throughout her body, but she was thankful to the support of her friends.

"I wanted to find a way to say 'thank you' to each of them and let them know how much their friendship means to me," she said.

Ungaro said she's a faithful "Live With Kelly" viewer and would love to spend time with them and Kelly.

Kelly Surprises The Girls

Kelly surprised the group to tell them they won the contest. The five women flew up to New York City on Monday.

Ungaro's friends on the trip include Kristen Denny, of Oviedo, Janet Miller, of Winter Springs, Christie Muzzone, of Winter Springs and Kim Kalinowski, of Casselberry.

"I couldn't imagine a better group of friends," Ungaro said.

The five will appear on "Live With Kelly" throughout the week.

"Live With Kelly" airs on WESH at 9 a.m. on weekdays.
