Digg Founder Kevin Rose Joins Google | News & Opinion on day true story
Google on Friday confirmed that Digg founder Kevin Rose, and several of his Milk co-workers, have joined the company.
& &Rose, along with Milk designer and co-founder Daniel Burka and several others, are now officially Googlers.
& &"I've had a chance to get to know Kevin and Daniel a bit over the years, and have been truly impressed with the quality, depth and thoughtfulness of their work," Bradley Horowitz, vice president of product for Google+, said in a Friday post. "They're going to fit in really well here, and I'm excited to welcome them to Google!"
& &Horowitz did not elaborate on exactly what Rose and the Milk team will be doing for Google.
& &In his own Google+ post, Rose said he was "beyond excited" to announce the move. "It's been a privilege to use Google products over the years (I still remember begging for a Gmail invite) and I can't wait to be a part of the amazing team that is shaping the future of the web," he wrote.
& &"Woohooo! The word is out. I can't wait to join the Google team. Here. We. Go!" Burka chimed in.
& &News of Rose's move to Google was first reported yesterday by All Things D.
& & &Rose left Digg last March, and started Milk in April. News of his move to Google comes several days after Milk shut down Oink, its "rate everything" app.
& &Oink was originally founded with the hope of bypassing the hierarchy of location-only preference and focus on the experiences and products offered at those locations. Essentially, the app was designed to be a "decision engine" that eased the process of making choices when you're out and about. Frequent "Oinkers" also gained reputation points.
& & & &Recently, Google also landed DARPA head Regina Dugan.
