The saga that was the Osi Umenyiora contract situation came to a close Friday, when the Giants announced they have reached a deal to restructure the contract for the 30-year-old defensive lineman.

The terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but Umenyiora said through the team that it gave him "peace of mind," and he vowed he'd rejoin his Super Bowl champion teammates Monday for the rest of off-season training activities. Before Friday, the back and forth between the two sides had gone on for nearly a year.
"We just resolved a situation. It was affecting me in a bad way," said Umenyiora, a two-time Pro Bowler who is fourth on the team's all-time sacks list.
"I appreciate Osi's patience and effort," said Giants general manager Jerry Reese.
Umenyiora was entering the final year of a seven-year, $41 million deal, fired his agent, Tony Agnone, earlier this off-season and has said he has no agent.

Rangers forward Marian Gaborik will undergo surgery on his right shoulder that is expected to sideline the high-scoring winger for about five months.
Gaborik said Friday he was injured during Game 3 of New York's first-round playoff victory over the Ottawa Senators when he was hit into the boards.
Gaborik, who scored 41 goals during the regular season, didn't miss any games because of the injury but was limited to just five goals and six assists during New York's 20-game postseason run that ended in the East finals.
