Set to be shot in locations all across India, the channel says that the focus will be on a realistic presentation of the recreated, dramatised version of the original stories. And while they are sure to have an air of suspense and mystery, they will be without any gore or violence.
When asked, Sukesh Motwani, fiction head, Zee TV, refused to divulge details, saying, "Yes, we are working on such a show, but it's too early to talk about it." But rumours have it that the hunt is on for an anchor, someone who can provide an intriguing and insightful account of the supposedly scary stories. The channel has approached some Bollywood personalities for the job, such as actors Kay Kay Menon, Gul Panag, Jimmy Shergill and Manoj Bajpai, and director-producer Vikram Bhatt.
A source from the channel says, "The anchor will play a pivotal role in each episode, introducing the story to the audience and delving into the so-called paranormal phenomenon."
The genre should interest audiences as the stories will be based on facts and be presented in a credible manner. The format will also be the first of its kind on Indian television.
"A lot of research for the show has already been done," our source also informs, "And we will be keeping in mind the sentiments of the Indian audience."
