Roger Goodell wants more Thursday night games on day true story
Fans of Thursday Night Football likely will have more games to watch, possibly as soon as next season.
Roger Goodell told SI.com's Peter King he wants to expand the number of games on NFL Network, "as early as next year."
NFL Network currently airs seven of the eight Thursday night games and one Saturday night game. The NFL commissioner didn't specify how many Thursday night contests would be added, or whether he'd be willing to put his product up against MLB playoff games in October.
Goodell did say he doubted the NFL would play regular-season games on any days besides the current Sunday-Monday-Thursday format.
"I think we like being special," he told King. "I think we like having a day where you anticipate having football. I think when you have games every night of the week, as an example, it takes away from that uniqueness and that special nature of our game."
