Ashley Tisdale is getting rid of excess baggage this New Year, and she's starting with boyfriend Scott Speer.

The "High School Musical" star, 26, has called it quits with the music video director, 29, a source told Us Weekly.

The couple began dating in the spring of 2009, just one month after Tisdale broke off her two-year relationship with "HSM" backup dancer and "V Factory" band member Jared Murillo.

A source told the magazine that Tisdale and Speer had been "on and off for a while" before deciding to permanently end their two-and-a-half year courtship.

"They tried to work it out but realized their relationship ran its course," the source said.

Tisdale, who entrusted Speer to direct five of her music videos, took to Twitter this week and hinted that the split may not have been amicable.

"What goes around comes back around," she wrote over the weekend.

The following day, Tisdale said she was "rocking out" to Nicole Scherzinger's "Don't Hold Your Breath."

The song that has some rather interesting lyrics: "You can't touch me now there's no feeling left/ If you think I'm coming back don't hold your breath/ What you did to me boy I can't forget/ If you think I'm coming back don't hold your breath."

Whatever may have happened between the couple, Tisdale appears to be moving on.

"So happy to have amazing friends in my life!" she tweeted Monday.
