Jim Beam to pour more into Kentucky bourbon tourism on day true story
That's the word from Louisville's The Courier-Journal newspaper, which says Jim Beam aims to pour $18 million into a new visitors center and allow aficionados to ascend "a giant distillation column where you would get an insider's view of the world's top-selling bourbon maker."
Jim Beam, in Clermont, is part of the so-called "Kentucky Bourbon Trail," which winds past producers of the mellow whiskey. The Courier-Journal says plans are in the work for a parkway to help visitors make the trek, plus bike trails (don't drink and pedal, folks).
The paper says Beam's 560-acre site, which employs about 900 workers gets about 80,000 tourists each year and hopes to more than double that number with a new visitors center and more interactive tours.
It says Bernheim bourbon makers, who built a $1.8 million visitors center eight years ago, gets 200,000-plus visitors a year.
The Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which has its own website, includes Wild Turkey, Woodford Reserve, Maker's Mark and more.
