Cannabis is still far far safer than many other prescribed drugs some of which have a profound effect in memory, or even the basic ability to function. &

I have been prescribed many drugs for very severe nerve damage pain (Neuropathic pain) combined with often very severe Nociceptive pain. &

For me, Gabapentin and especially Lyrica had far worse than any of the effects of cannabis. I have had no problem with functioning or memory on cannabis, either Sativex (http://telecomadvisors.biz/www.gwpharm.com) or Bedrocan (wwww.bedrocan.nl) or natural cannabis from Coffeshops in Holland that some of my Dutch Doctors sent me to as the say the cannabis in the Coffeeshops is better and cheaper than Bedrocan. As good as Bedrocan is I have to agree with these Doctors but it takes research, any money, to discover which varieties of cannabis in the Coffeeshops work best for pain as some varieties, especially the more expensive 'hazes' are not very good. &

The effects of drugs like Amitriptyline, Carbamazepine, Gabapentin, and Pregabalin were so debilitating that it was impossible for me to work. I could barely stay awake most of the time, thinking was really difficult due to being in a constant 'fog'. I had issues with alsorts of tremors and especially my balance. Speaking was difficult due to aphasia - I could see the word/s I wanted to say in my head but I was 'grabbing' the wrong words and wrong sequence of words to make sentences. &

I have had severe adverse reactions to Gabapentin and esspecially Lyrica. &

Lyrica almost killed me within two weeks of starting it. My Pain Consultant was unconcerned and tried to increase the dose. Luckily I was taken to a big London University hospital in an emergency one night after collapsing, going unconscious, and waking freezing cold, in far more pain that I was in before taking Lyrica. The Emergency Consultant told me I had to stop taking Lyrica immediately as it was killing me. My local Pain Management Consultant disagreed next day and again tried to increase the dose. &

Through the 'fog' I was just about able enough to think and managed to phone Pfizer's help line. It was difficult to hold a conversation but I managed to make myself understood and was eventually put through to a research Doctor who said that as I had adverse reactions on Gaba I should never have been prescribed Lyrica. She advised me to stop slowly by reducing over a two week period. That was two weeks of Hell!&

Never had a bad experience on cannabis. It just works for pain, and muscle spasm, gives me back my strength, and lets me get on with life!
