Bobby Brown Speaks Out on Whitney Houston's Funeral in 'Today' Interview on day true story
Bobby Brown is setting the record straight.
The New Edition frontman and ex-husband of Whitney Houston is sharing his story with Matt Lauer during a two-part interview to air on NBC's Today Show this week. On Tuesday, Lauer called into Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM morning radio show to discuss the feature.
Among the topics discussed, Brown delves into the details of Houston's private funeral and whether he was, in fact, banned by the singer's family.

"He goes in to the funeral, the rumor was that Whitney's family didn't want him at the funeral, of course he did show up, and then he left early," Lauer explained. "There was some controversy there. He talks about that in great detail."
Brown also defends his marriage and relationship with Houston, including his alleged drug use. Brown was oft blamed for Houston's drug addiction, but now claims he was not the one to introduce his wife to narcotics.
"He does not feel that he was the reason that Whitney Houston experienced this kind of downfall in her life and when it came to drugs, he came right out and said, 'Look, I got high. I smoked pot before I met Whitney Houston. But I had never done hard drugs. I never did narcotics and that was a part of her life,' " Lauer recalled Brown saying.

"This was a deep love. They spent a lot of time in private," he added. "They hated the public element of their relationship, and he says that people were ever to be flies on the wall in their home they would have a different impression of how they were together."
While daughter Bobbi Kristina does not appear during the interview, Brown's four other children are included as they defend their father.
"They feel he's gotten a bad rap in the press and gotten a reputation that he doesn't deserve," Lauer said. "They really come to his defense."
The first part of the interview will air during Wednesday's episode of Today, with the second part to air Thursday. Lauer said that Brown will appear on the show once again at the end of May for an interview with his fellow New Edition group members.
