Nail likes "Someone Like You," a lot on day true story

Friday, June 15, 2012David Nail sang Adele's Someone Like You to warm up his vocal chords before his shows. That led to an acoustic performance clip that will anchor a special VEVO/YouTube David Nail Playlist Promotion on June 18.

"When my manager called me to tell me, I thought it was funny," Nail said. "We did the video just for friends who'd heard me sing the song backstage and wanted to have access to it. It's a great song - and it brings so many things out of you as a vocalist, so I wanted to make sure the visuals lived up to it, but I never thought anyone would pay attention to it. I certainly didn't expect it to turn into something like thias."&

Nationally syndicated After Midnight host Blair Garner put the performance on his show this week, then Tweeted about it to his followers. The song will be featured on VEVO's front page all day. It will also be cycling through playlists on the entire country roster on YouTube. The projected estimate of hits between the two platforms is expected to reach somewhere in the range of 4 million impressions for Monday.&

"I listen to so little music on the radio because I'm such a sports guy, especially during baseball, basketball and football season, so I was late to Adele," said Nail. "But when I finally heard her, that was it. I was completely all about everything she sings, but especially I loved Someone Like You."&

"That this is happening is a really cool thing because this was just me singing a piece of music that I loved with absolutely no expectations or plans," he said.&

Editorial: Walking the talk – When names like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon and the Hag are invoked, you're talking hard core country. These are the touchstones of country , the guys who made country music what it was and still is (or maybe can be). When these folks would sing about being down-and-out and the rough-and-tumble, they knew of what they were singing about. Fast forward a few years to the country singers of today. »»»
Concert Review: The adventure of Bonnaroo – Day One & This was our first trip to Bonnaroo. And like most newbies to Bonnaroo, we found the experience initially overwhelming - what with the vast array of acts and entertainment. We also discovered that it's remarkably well run and expertly organized. The people are friendly - the epitome of Tennessee hospitality - and fellow festival goers... »»»
Concert Review: Brad Paisley deserves new title – It might be a heavy honor to bestow on someone, but the late Chet Atkins doubtlessly would have pronounced Brad Paisley a Certified Guitar Hero (CGP) as Atkins was called.& Paisley also might be considered one of the best country performers out there, and one of the ultra few (besides George Strait first and foremost and Alan Jackson) who hew to a... »»»

Trampled by Turtles reach for stars and satellites Trampled by Turtles is one of the best bluegrass bands around, sort of. They hesitate to ascribe any particular label to their unique sound. When asked to clarify, front man Dave Simonett said, "I don't really know what to say when I'm asked that. I hesitate to say bluegrass because I'm familiar with that kind of music. I feel that is a genre that has set boundaries that, and anytime you stray out of that, you're not really considered a bluegrass band no matter what instruments you're playing on. I would say it's Americana with string instruments, but whatever anyone wants to call it, that's fine."... »»» Carolina Chocolate Drops leave Eden With its latest full-length, "Leaving Eden," the uniquely modern, old-timey jug and/or string band Carolina Chocolate Drops was faced with the daunting task of following up a highly successful major label debut album. After all, "Genuine Negro Jig" earned the act a Best Traditional Folk Album Grammy. All pressure aside, though, these new tracks are just as unusually enjoyable as those found on the group's debut.... »»» Martina McBride rolls on Martina McBride was introduced at a CMT awards presentation as "one of the greatest voices ever created by God." While debatable that her voice may be the result of divine creation, her high octane soprano is one of the most beautiful and powerful in music.
