DMV: Use Alternative Services to Avoid âBlack Mondayâ - Local News - Reno, NV on day true story
& RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) - The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is asking motorists to use alternative services this coming Monday or to delay visiting an office until later in the week.&
"Happy holidays from our family to yours," says DMV Director Bruce Breslow. "Enjoy your time more by staying away from the DMV on Monday."
The Monday after Thanksgiving is traditionally the department's busiest day of the year, leading some of the staff to call it "Black Monday." Wait times can easily double or triple to two hours or longer. Motorists can always check current wait times on the department's website or iPhone application.
There are many alternatives to DMV office visits, beginning with the website. Self-service DMV kiosks offer vehicle registration renewal and driver history printouts. Most insurance issues can be handled on the internet or by telephone. And many transactions such as address changes or custom license plate orders can be accomplished by mail or fax.
Visit the DMV's website at www.dmvnv.com to find online services, kiosk locations and ways to avoid the waits before you visit an office. If you do have to visit an office, the website and iPhone app list the current wait times for the metropolitan areas.
DMV offices will be closed four days from Thanksgiving Day, November 24 through Sunday, November 27. Offices will be closed also on Monday, December 26 and Monday, January 2, following Christmas and New Year's. Wait times are always higher on the first day after a holiday and the department suggests using alternatives on those days as well.
