Local film 'Take Shelter' opens locally - Local News - Cleveland, OH on day true story



& A locally produced movie had its local premiere Thursday evening. &

The movie was shot in the summer of 2010 has received acclaim in international festivals and is landing on local screens this weekend.

"Take Shelter," produced by Tyler Davidson, opens at the Cedar Lee Friday. "Take Shelter" was shot at locations around Lorain County and in Chagrin Falls.

It's a supernatural thriller following a family whose father has apocalyptic vision of a disastrous storm. Click here for the film's trailer.

Performances by the film's stars have been getting favorable buzz in movie circles.

"I feel that some of the performances in this film, Michael Shannon's, Jessica Chastain's, are Oscar-worthy. I feel they deserve nomination, whether or not that happens, who knows, but the fast that other people are saying the same thing, it's enough for me right now," said the film's producer Tyler Davidson, a Chagrin Falls resident.

Davidson was at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cleveland Cinematheque Thursday evening to introduce the film and take questions from the audience.

"I'm completely thrilled, this is what it's all about finally getting the film and being able to share it with the group of people that made it happen, the cast, the crew, the people that helped us with the location, the local governments, people that really made it work for us seeing it for the first time...it doesn't get any better," Davidson said.

Davidson will do a Q&A after the 7 p.m. showing Friday at the Cedar Lee Theater in Cleveland Heights . On Saturday, he'll do a Q&A after the 4:20 p.m. showing and then introduce the 7 p.m. showing.
