Wilfred L. "Jiggs" Damcott, 85, of 310 Rundall Road in Clymer, N.Y., passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at his home.

He was born on Oct. 11, 1926 in Clymer, N.Y., the son of the late Arvin and Minnie (Legters) Damcott.

Jiggs was a life long dairy farmer, and he was a milk hauler for 25 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and in Japan from 1945 to 1946. He is survived by his wife, Velma Damcott of Clymer, to whom he was married for 65 years; son, Dennis (Linda) Damcott of Clymer, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Aaron Damcott and Emily Treese of Clymer, N.Y., and Vicki (Scott) Briggs and Jill (Rob) Sutter of Jamestown, N.Y.; and four great grandchildren, Hannah and Adam Briggs and Madison Damcott of Clymer, Drew Sutter of Jamestown, N.Y. Besides his parents, he was preceded by five brothers, Orville, Donald, Marion, Norman and Maynard Sr.; one sister, Jeanette Evans; one son, Gary Damcott, June 13, 1986; and one grandson, Nathan Damcott, July 1, 2005.

The family received friends at Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer, N.Y., on Friday, Feb. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer, with Pastor Jacqueline Rhodes officiating. Interment was at Holland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice, and Hospice of Chautauqua County 20 W. Farimount Ave. Lakewood, N.Y.
