Man arrested in 32-year-old Lake Tahoe murder on day true story
(04-03) 17:34 PDT South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (AP) --
South Lake Tahoe police have arrested a man living in the Sacramento area in the slaying of a teenage gas station attendant 32 years ago.
Richard Swanson, who was 16 at the time, was working alone on the late shift in 1980 when he was beaten to death.
The robber took his wallet and $190, which police say was money from his first paycheck. Also taken was $761 from the station's cash drawer.
The Sacramento Bee reported (http://telecomadvisors.biz/bit.ly/He8QE2) Tuesday that police last week arrested Andrew Sanford of Carmichael, a Sacramento suburb, on suspicion of homicide.
Police are not saying what led to them to Sanford, who is 50, after more than three decades. It could not be determined immediately if the man had retained an attorney.
