Tim Howard, Everton earn draw with Sunderland - SOCCER on day true story

U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard and Everton yielded an early goal but were able to recover and earn a 1-1 draw with visiting Sunderland in Saturday's FA Cup quarterfinal. As a result, there will be a replay on March 27 at the Stadium of Light that will determine who advances to the semifinals of the planet's oldest soccer competition.

Howard, who is only American to win the FA Cup, was unable to reach Sunderland defender Phillip Bardsley's long-range blast in the 12th minute and remained under pressure for several minutes thereafter. But Everton survived and in the 24th, Australian Tim Cahill headed home his second goal of the season to level the score.

Howard didn't have much to do in the second half but Everton was unable to net the winner and now will have to negotiate the replay at Sunderland.

Everton last won England's all-comers knockout tournament in 1995. Howard won it in 2004 while playing in goal for Manchester United.

The FA Cup quarterfinals will continue on Sunday as Liverpool hosts Stoke City and Chelsea hosts Leicester City, the only non-Premier League club left in the tournament.
