LA Galaxy re-sign three players, including defender Sean Franklin, and added two others - World Soccer on day true story
The LA Galaxy have announced that defender Sean Franklin, midfielder Bryan Jordan and forward Adam Cristman will all return to the team for the 2012 season. Franklin and Jordan each re-signed, while the team exercised an option on Cristman.
The team also signed forward Pat Noonan, whom they acquired in the Re-Entry Draft, and goalkeeper Nick Noble.
The most notable of the re-signings is Franklin, who has been a key member of the Galaxy back line for the past four seasons. The 2008 MLS Rookie of the Year played in a career-high 28 games for the Galaxy last season, scoring four goals and adding three assists. The 27-year-old right back was also named an MLS All-Star for the first time in his career.
Jordan has also been with the Galaxy since 2008, and has appeared in 48 total games with the club, scoring twice and adding three assists. Though he was signed as a forward, Jordan has spent most of his time with the Galaxy at wide midfield or right back.
Cristman was acquired in a trade with D.C. United in January, and the 26-year-old forward scored three goals in all competitions for the Galaxy in a reserve role.
The team also announced that it has agreed to terms with forward Pat Noonan, who was selected in the Re-Enry Draft from Seattle earlier this month.
A nine-year MLS veteran, Noonan has scored 41 goals and added 33 assists in 173 career regular season games with the New England Revolution, Columbus Crew, Colorado Rapids and Seattle Sounders FC.
Finally, the Galaxy added goalkeeper Nick Noble from Ljungskile SK of the Swedish second division. Originally drafted by the Chicago Fire in 2007, Noble did not make any league appearances before moving to Sweden, where he has spent the past two seasons.
