Roman numerals Super Bowl: Roman numerals for Super Bowl XLVI installed Tuesday on day true story

Indianapolis-based Sport Graphics Inc. is handling the installation of giant Roman numerals that began going up Tuesday morning on the south side of Monument Circle.

The 96-ton sign will sit on top of scaffolding supported by concrete, but the XLVI will not necessarily be a static display.

"They will actually be lighting them and projecting imaging on the Roman numerals as well as playing music," said Connie Israel of the Indianapolis Host Committee.

Standing 30-feet high and 82-feet wide, the numerals are meant to be a focal point both on the ground and in the air.

Super Bowl organizers anticipate the work to be completed by Wednesday.  Later in the week, a field of 33 super cars will come to rest in the foreground of the XLVI numerals.

Downtown Indianapolis workers and residents said they are ready for traffic jams and fun.

"My friends and I are planning on going to concerts or anything that is going on so there is just a lot of stuff," said Evonne Hammel. "Although it's a hassle sometimes for those of us who live and work down here, it should be fun."

Fox59 plans to call the south side of Monument Circle home as the countdown to the Super Bowl continues. A "super" studio will be set up on the second floor of the IPL building.  The giant numerals will be in the background.
